When rosy red cheeks get out of hand & you constantly feel the need to cover up; when your skin itches or your eyelashes feel itchy, you may have Rosacea.
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disorder that is so common & yet so many people do not know they have it. It is characterized by redness and flushing across the nose and cheeks in a perfect "butterfly" pattern but can also affect the neck, chest, eyes and ears.
Often a person with Rosacea as an adult may have blushed a lot when young… very sweet when young, not so sweet when the blush stays & refuses to go away. Often it gets worse with
Natarsha said..."My forehead was very red, bumpy and inflamed by Rosacea. 3-4 months ago I started having treatments at Sasi Skin Spa and by changing my cleansing products to Danne, my skin has cleared up dramatically. I have battled Rosacea for years, this is the first time that I have had any relief and seen any improvement with it. I'm just amazed how my skin has cleared up." |
If not managed, Rosacea tends to get worse over time however it does go through periods of acute flare up and then lessening symptoms. It usually starts out as mild to moderate flushing and redness like a blush. It then progresses to a variety of symptoms. Some people experience all of the symptoms, or only some of them as the Rosacea flares & settles.
The immune responses and inflammation in the area then activate pustules. Rosacea sufferers often also develop enlarged & over productive sebaceous glands which gives an open pored appearance, & rough surface to the skin.
Skin care products that contain alcohol, benzoyl peroxide and synthetic fragrance, as well as essential oils of eucalyptus and peppermint are likely to aggravate rosacea. Microdermabrasion, and chemical peels should be avoided.
I have treated many, many clients with rosacea & always given quick relief using the HelicoX herbs, PS Calm herbs, DMK EFA+ capsules & Danne skin treatments. We now also have Payot Sensitive Skin Facials that INSTANTLY calm the redness, & an IPL specialist.
Optimum treatment would be - our "digestive Tune-up" combined with EFA+, PS Calm, a skin treatment & IPL. The Intense Pulsed Light absorbs the blood vessels, the heat breaks down & damages any lesions, & the damaged vessels are removed by the lymphatic system. Repeat visits may be necessary. Sun exposure must be avoided.
Try to learn to recognize your triggers… note when you have a flare up, & think about what you have been doing in the period before… stress, diet, sun exposure, exercise, different products? Avoiding triggers is essential.
Stress will almost always trigger a flare up. We recommend our PS CALM herbs to reduce the response to stress.
Dietary factors to consider are alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, margarine, shortening, hydrogenated oils (these contain transfats). Transfats should be avoided TOTALLY for optimum health regardless of whether you have Rosacea, so ALWAYS READ THE LABEL. Fast foods, high in simple sugars stimulate the over secretion of insulin which causes inflammation within all the systems of the body.
Helicobacter Pylori in the gastric system is common with Rosacea sufferers. The presence of H.Pylori is also thought to be a precursor to stomach cancer, so taking a course of our herbs HelicoX is beneficial to all... not only rosacea sufferers have these bacterium in their system.
Essential fatty acids are important in the treatment and management of rosacea. They work to reduce skin inflammation as well as improving skin moisture and appearance. Good sources of essential fatty acids include wild caught deep sea fish such as tuna, salmon and mackerel as well as nuts and seeds. NB: Farmed fish should NEVER be eaten.
Our DMK EFA+ capsules are the most superior supplement you can buy. They are a perfect balance of Omega 3, 6, 7 & 9. They are from the Evening Primrose plant, using a method of extraction that ensures the delicate kernel of the plant is not damaged.
Zinc is also important for skin repair and inflammation control. Good dietary sources of zinc include lean beef, whole grains, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
Rosacea is a condition that can be managed with time and care. While there are no miracle cures with this condition, avoidance of triggers, gentle skin care and a whole food diet will help reduce acute attacks as well as the progression of rosacea.
Put your skin in our experienced & knowledgeable hands…. we are here to help!
